近些年“学会放弃”为我完成任务起到很大的促进作用。一件事情的重要性和价值是随着时间变化的，不能只停留在记录下的那一刻，要经常重新审视并勇于删除过期的任务，确保 TODO 列表的长度不超过一个上限。

许多开源项目会配置一种工具，定期检查 open issues 的最后回复时间，将太久没有更新的标记为 stale，并会 close 那些最久的。曾经我很讨厌这一点，认为是不负责的体现，学会通过放弃来调整任务后，我理解了这样做的意义。维护者的精力是有限的，舍弃一部分旧 issue 才能专注在更重要的那些上，更好地维护项目。

Mayo Oshin 发现，我们经常创建很多任务，但是不知道如何完成他们。就此，他给出了以下建议：

1 自我创建截止日期：列出任务及所需时间，然后将每个任务的时间限制减半。努力在这些截止日期前完成每个任务。
2 使用 80/20 规则。
3 相信你的直觉。
4 养成完成任务的习惯。
5 学会放弃。
